Local Government elections will be held Saturday 19 October, with early voting available until 4pm Friday 18 October at the Shire Administration.
Fifteen candidates have nominated for five vacancies in the Broome Ward, with one nomination received for one vacancy in the Dampier Ward and Cr Elsta Foy re-elected unopposed.
The Shire of Broome has nine elected members representing two wards, and
Councillors hold office for a four-year term with ordinary elections every two years and about half the Councillors’ terms finishing at each election.
Shire of Broome CEO, Sam Mastrolembo, says Local Government elections play an important role in our democracy and are an important opportunity for people to be involved in their community.
