Public access to the rehabilitated landfill site in Bullengarook is prohibited.
Recent damage by bike riders to the south eastern side of the site has led to a risk of potentially hazardous materials leaching from this closed landfill site.
Council will be working to rectify the issue and minimise the risk of any environmental or health impacts.
Trespassers will be prosecuted.
Damaging a closed landfill site may incur fines of up to $388,800 under the Victorian Environment Protection Act 1970.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Council on (03) 5422 0333 or contact local police.
