Community groups and not-for-profits with initiatives, programs or events that will benefit the broader community encouraged to apply for their share in the latest round of Annual Community Grants.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw who also holds the Family Friendly City portfolio, said up to $40,000 was available to individual community projects that will take place between 1st March 2020 and 30th June 2021.
“There are three streams of funding that applicants can apply for,” Cr Shaw said.
“Community Strengthening Grants are for projects or initiatives that strengthen groups’ ability to participate in community life, while supporting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.”
“Community Health Grants assist in contributing to the wider Wyndham community by enabling residents to make changes to their lifestyle for physical and mental health and wellbeing.”
“And then there are the Community Environment Grants assist in educating the public on how they can be more environmentally sustainable in their day-to-day operations and decision making, or actions which directly benefit the environment.”
Cr Shaw said that the program had a proven track record of supporting initiatives that benefit the entire community.
“Each year Council carefully assesses grant applications to make sure that we’re giving money to initiatives and events that benefit and build on local skills, encourage positive community activities and relationships, and inspire collaboration for stronger health, community or environmental outcomes,” Cr Shaw said.
