One of Australia’s most-loved stories, The Sapphires, hits the stage in Wyndham next month for one night only.

Arts, Culture and Heritage portfolio holder Cr Tony Hooper said it was exciting that the multiple award-winning musical play was coming to Wyndham on 23rd October as part of its first major Australian Tour

“Written by Aboriginal playwright Tony Briggs and inspired by the true story of his mother, The Sapphires is the heart-warming story of four young Yorta Yorta women in 1960s Australia who travel to Vietnam to sing to the troops,” Cr Hooper said.

“Wearing sequins and armed only with microphones, they find themselves on a life altering trip to the depths of war and back again.”

“Many people know and love the hugely successful 2012 film, and the stage production of The Sapphires is every bit as energetic, fun and full of emotion and great music.”

Tony Briggs directs his play for the first time on this tour, and the lineup of talented Aboriginal and multicultural performers and designers really bring his play to life.”

For the ultimate night out, Wolf on Watton is hosting a special pre-show dining package from 6pm, with a grazing table of blue swimmer crab rolls, a selection of cheeses, truffled ricotta tartlets and more for an additional $25 with your ticket, which also includes a complimentary glass of champagne to take into the show.

Tickets are now on sale at www.wyncc.com.au for The Sapphires, at Wyndham Cultural Centre, Wednesday, 23rd October, 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start.
