The City of Ballarat has announced three more sites at Wendouree, Redan and Miners Rest for its Pass on Glass drop off sites as residents prepare to change the way they recycle.
Council recently announced that as of Monday, 30 September, no more glass will be allowed in yellow household recycling bins.
Instead residents have been asked to drop their glass bottles and jars to Council operated drop-off sites around the municipality, or as a last resort, they can put glass into their rubbish bins to go to landfill.
The eight Pass on Glass drop-off sites are listed below.
NEW Stockland Wendouree –near MyCar service centre
NEW Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club – Rubicon St entrance near bus exchange
NEW Miners Rest General Store, off Howe Street
Gillies Street Transfer Station, South Alfredton (no vouchers required)
Lucas Coltman Plaza Shopping Centre car park, north east corner
Alfred Square – Big W Ballarat car park near loading dock
Midvale Shopping Complex, Mt Clear south west corner of rear car park
Buninyong – 315 Forest Street behind service station and newsagency
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Samantha McIntosh thanked local businesses who have worked with Council to provide convenient, high profile locations for the glass drop-off sites.
“It’s terrific that these businesses and shopping centres have partnered with us as we work to remove glass from Ballarat’s recycling stream”, Cr McIntosh said.
Victorian Councils have been forced to implement changes to their recycling services following a national recycling crisis caused by the loss of key international markets for Australia’s recycling products.
