Media Release - 24 September 2019

Pink Up your business, sports team or community event this October and help raise funds for the McGrath Foundation.

The community is encouraged to get behind the Pink Up Campbelltown initiative and support the foundation in placing breast cancer nurses where they are needed most in Australia while making the city a bright and attractive place to visit.

If you’re planning an event or fundraiser you can have it featured on the McGrath Foundation’s Pink Up Campbelltown website or at Council’s website and social media channels.

Residents are invited to family fun event, Pinknic at Mawson Park on Friday 18 October from 6pm to 8pm where they are encouraged to don their best pink outfit, grab dinner from a food truck and watch a family movie on the big screen.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer diagnosis in the Campbelltown LGA.

Statistics from the Cancer Institute of NSW show breast cancer made up 12 per cent of cancer cases between 2011 and 2015 in the area.

Council will be supporting the initiative with the Pink Fete on the Lawn at the Campbelltown Civic Centre on Tuesday 1 October where staff will raise money.

Trees on Hurley St and Pembroke Rd will be wrapped in an eco-friendly, flexible and biodegradable pink jute and some Council vehicles will be ‘pinked out’ for the month.

Donation boxes will be placed at libraries, sports facilities and in Council’s Mobile Education Van throughout the month.

A supporter poster and sticker pack to create a reception or window display is available in return for a $100 donation. To get a pack, email [email protected] or call 4645 4076.

You can register an event with Council via email: [email protected].
