CPAC recognised at Business Excellence Awards

The Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) was awarded Highly Commended in the Hospitality and Tourism category at the 2019 Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards held on Friday evening.

This was the 26th year these prestigious awards have taken place and the CPAC is no stranger to being recognised, having won the Customer Service category in 2018.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said the CPAC is a wonderful community facility and the staff consistently go above and beyond what is required of them.

“I can’t speak positively enough about the CPAC, the facility is an asset to our region as people come from all over for both the fantastic shows and the quality customer service they receive.”

“On behalf of Council, I would like to congratulate the entire CPAC team for this recognition,” added Cr Pynsent.

Since opening in 2008, the centre has developed a strong reputation as it draws its audience from the Cessnock Local Government Area and further afield from areas including Singleton, Maitland, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Not only does the CPAC offer a fantastic program of performances throughout the year, the team is also committed to working closely with the community.

CPAC is home to the Cessnock Senior Citizens Association, The Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society, Hunter Drama and works with a number of local schools and dance schools to present their major performances and concerts.

The CPAC staff are also responsible for producing major events on behalf of Council, such as Spring Awakening, Carols in the Park and Australia Day as well as partnering with other Council departments and the community for NAIDOC Week, Seniors Festival and Youth Week.
