Statement from the City of Ballarat:

The City of Ballarat tracks Lake Wendouree's swan population.

In the past 12 months, Council has recorded three swan deaths at the lake.

Anyone who finds injured wildlife at Lake Wendouree can call 0417 380 687.

There are a number of signs around the lake with this information.

To report dead wildlife, call City of Ballarat on 5320 5500.

Wildlife rescuers will attend to wildlife if the injured wildlife number above is called.

City of Ballarat staff will also attend if the animal is reported to us and arrange treatment.

City of Ballarat staff will pick up any dead animal, wildlife or domestic.   

City of Ballarat keeps records of swans picked up by City of Ballarat staff.

Native wildlife in Victoria is the responsibility of the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP).

The signs are maintained by City of Ballarat. There are 12 signs with the injured wildlife number in the precincts. The number was provided by DELWP.

There are no plans for additional signs.
