Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller has welcomed the release of the Community Consultation Report into the Stage 1 Western Sydney Aerotropolis Land Use and Infrastructure Implementation Plan (Stage 1 LUIIP).
“The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment received more than 600 submissions on the LUIIP from residents and stakeholders after 10 weeks of public engagement,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“This shows how much interest the community has in getting the planning outcomes right for the development which will grow up around the new Western Sydney International Airport (WSIA).
“Having Sydney’s new airport in our Local Government Area is a great opportunity for our community. It is obviously very important to get the planning right – and listening to the community is essential.
“The responsibility for planning the Aerotropolis sits with the NSW Minister for Planning. Council looks forward to an ongoing productive relationship with the NSW Government to get the best possible outcomes.”
Mayor Waller said Council would continue to work with the community to ensure residents have access to the latest information.
“The report will be discussed in detail at the next Rural District Forum, which will be held on Thursday 17 October at the Bringelly Community Centre,” she said.
“Planning around the Aerotropolis is well advanced and this is an important step along the way to getting it right. The Aerotropolis and WSIA will be major contributors to 200,000 jobs in western Sydney.”
