Rosalind Park’s poppet head will come to life with spectacular large visual scale projections and light show, contemporary dance, circus and live music performances at Encounter, a special community event on Saturday October 12 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Rosalind Park’s landmark will host some of the country’s finest performers, who will be joined by more than 100 community participants to present a dynamic mix of multimedia and sensory wonder.
Performance highlights include SIMULCAST, a mass dance performance presented by Victoria’s leading contemporary dance company Chunky Move and Tasmania’s TAS Dance.
Contemporary circus company One Fell Swoop will perform Kilter, an incredible piece of physical theatre.
Local and Melbourne based First Nations performers will collaborate and present on the night with a live music performance from DRMGNOW, as well as large scale projections by Transience.
Over 100 participants, aged from 8 to 80 years old, have volunteered to perform on the night, including three generations from one family.
City of Greater Bendigo Manager Capital Venues and Events David Lloyd said a lot of planning had gone into making this a spectacular free event, including involvement from the community.
“Bendigo’s iconic poppet head site will be activated and repurposed like never before for one night only with dance, music, circus and a spectacular light and projection show. It’s not to be missed so bring your picnic, rug up and get ready for Encounter on October 12,” Mr Lloyd said.
