The historic Band Rotunda in Lissner Park has been repaired following vandalism that occurred earlier this year.
In April, vandals destroyed a section of railing and smashed one of the bench seats.
Due to the historic listing of the Rotunda, Council staff undertook the repairs after consulting with the State Government to ensure work met heritage requirements.
The Rotunda, which was built in 1902, is a historic asset to the community and has been the centrepiece for community celebrations and wedding ceremonies.
Following the repairs, Mayor Liz Schmidt said she is very happy the Rotunda is back to its former condition.
“Council’s building crew have done an excellent job restoring this iconic building. The Rotunda is a historic asset for our community and we’re very happy it can be enjoyed again by residents and visitors.”
The final repair cost is estimated to be in excess of $5000.
