From 8am this Sunday, Council is inviting the community to pop on down to The Sands Park on Kidgell Street to grab a free coffee and take a stroll along the recently completed stage two of the River to Rail Trail.

The River to Rail Trail forms part of a larger network of trails. Once all three stages are complete, users will have the opportunity to walk or cycle the nine kilometre route from Albert Park to the Railway Station on Tozer Street and back into the Gympie Town Centre, forming a connected recreation loop.

It is anticipated that Sunday’s free coffee call will be popular with members of the community which means that parking at The Sands Park will be limited. Other parking locations are the Gympie Weir, One Mile Sports Complex, Albert Park and the Bridge Street road reserve.

The River to Rail Trail is a joint initiative of Gympie Regional Council and the Queensland Government.
