Draft Community Infrastructure Strategy

The neighbourhoods and CBD of the City of Parramatta are transforming.

Major urban renewal is taking place and changing our area from a low scale suburban centre to Sydney’s Central River City; the centre of services, infrastructure and employment for Western Sydney, where more than half of Sydney’s population lives.

The Draft Community Infrastructure Strategy (CIS) outlines the City of Parramatta’s long term direction for community infrastructure provision. It focuses on community infrastructure over which Council has primary responsibility, plays a role in delivering, or seeks to advocate for on behalf of the community.

The strategy identifies and assesses existing community infrastructure in the City of Parramatta local government area. It identifies contemporary challenges we have for providing quality community infrastructure and key opportunities and direction for our 12 high growth areas. This strategy applies to our unique and diverse neighbourhoods as well as our CBD.

The strategy will be used by the City of Parramatta to identify priorities for future community infrastructure and will guide decision making about planning, funding, delivering and negotiating for community infrastructure.

Council is interested in your feedback on the Draft Community Infrastructure Strategy (CIS).

Visit our engagement portal where you can read the full Draft CIS or a summary version and complete a survey to provide views on aspects of the Draft CIS that are important to you. The summary and survey are both available in Arabic, English, Hindi, Korean and Simplified Chinese. Community members who would like to take the survey in these languages can click the ‘Have your say’ button and select their preferred language from the dropdown menu. Submissions close 5pm, Monday 11 November 2019.

Copies of the strategy, along with the concurrently exhibited Draft Local Strategic Planning Statement and Draft Local Housing Strategy, will be available at each of our libraries and at Council’s customer contact centre, 126 Church Street Parramatta.
