Residents are encouraged to join Gannawarra Shire Council’s Mayor Lorraine Learmonth on a walk in Kerang next week to raise funds for the Gannawarra Giving Account.
Mayor Learmonth is hosting a 5 Ways to Wellbeing Walk and Talk event on Wednesday, 9 October, starting at the front gate of Kerang Primary School at 9am.
Grade 6 students from Kerang Primary School will lead the group on a walk around the block, concluding with a morning tea in the school grounds.
The event is part of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing Walk and Talk program, taking place throughout National Mental Health Month, occurring from 1 - 31 October 2019.
“The 5 Ways to Wellbeing - Be Active, Connect, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give – was developed by the New Economics Foundation, and the Kerang event will include references to these themes,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“I encourage those taking part to wear bright colours and bring along a donation for the Gannawarra Giving Account, which aims to raise funds to support local farming families, particularly to help with the cost of uniform, equipment and fees for children to participate in community, sport and recreation opportunities.”
Residents can register to host their own 5 Ways to Wellbeing Walk and Talk event by visiting www.gannawarra.vic.gov.au/add_your_event or phoning Council on (03) 5450 9333. Event hosts will receive an event pack, which includes a Gannawarra Giving Account donation box.
Tax deductible donations to the Gannawarra Giving Account can be made at any time by phoning Northern District Community Health on (03) 5451 0200 or visiting www.givenow.com.au/gannawarragivingaccount
