Strathfield Council has prepared draft Strathfield 2040, the Local Strategic Statement (LSPS) for the Strathfield Local Government Area (LGA). All New South Wales (NSW) councils are required to prepare an LSPS that has strong links to regional and district plans.

Strathfield 2040 defines our 20 year land use vision and consolidates local land use planning priorities and considers future local employment, housing, transport and environmental management options. It identifies the actions Council will take to deliver this longer term vision.

Strathfield 2040 will guide our decisions about land use within the Strathfield LGA.  It will inform our future Local Environmental Plans and Development Control Plans. Together they set the framework for development and infrastructure provision locally.

Council encourages all members of the community to review the document and provide your feedback. Take the time to help shape the future of our area.

At the conclusion of the exhibition period we will compile and analyse all the feedback received and make amendments to the LSPS where required. 

Following this we will be undergoing a health check assessment process which will provide further feedback on the draft LSPS from New South Wales (NSW) State Government agencies and the Greater Sydney Commission.  The LSPS may again be modified based on the feedback during this process.

Council will then consider the final LSPS for adoption in December 2019. Our final step will be to forward the draft LSPS to the State Government to be made.  Following its adoption, it will be forwarded to the NSW State Government for finalisation.
