Safer driving on Bodalla distributor

Work continues on a section of Eurobodalla Road, ensuring its safe use by heavy vehicles.

Eurobodalla Road provides the only access to the Eurobodalla and Nerrigundah Valleys, west of Bodalla. Apart from domestic vehicles, the road is used by freight trucks carrying milk, quarry and forestry product and farm supplies. It is also a school-bus route.

Eurobodalla Council identified an 800 metre section of road, south east from Sutcliffe Street, as a priority for reconstruction. The work has included road widening, the installation of stormwater pipes, new kerb and gutter on the eastern side of the road, new road pavement and a footpath separated from the road.

Council’s director of infrastructure Warren Sharpe said the work would provide greater structural capacity for heavy loads along Eurobodalla Road and increase safety for all road users.

“The one-and-a-half metre wide concrete footpath will benefit the local community by providing pedestrians and young cyclists with safer access to Bodalla village,” Mr Sharpe said.

The work is part funded by the NSW Government Fixing Country Roads program and the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery Program and is expected to finish by the end of the year.
