The winners of the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s annual rates prize competition have been drawn with four lucky ratepayers winning $1000 each.
The four randomly drawn ratepayers were informed of their win on September 16 with the residents coming from Mardalla, Oldbury, Byford and Oakford.
All Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire ratepayers who paid their rates in full by the September 5 due date were in the running to win one of two Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale $1000 cash prizes.
This year, ratepayers were also eligible to win and additional two $1000 prizes thanks to Westpac Bank.
One of the lucky winners, Arthur Mortimer thanked the Shire and commended the initiative.
“We never win anything; we saw you could win the prize on the rates notice but never thought we would be the ones to win, it’s great!” Mr Mortimer said.
Shire President Michelle Rich said the four winning names were randomly selected and the prizes acted as an incentive for residents to pay their rates on time.
“I’d like to thank Westpac Bank for contributing an additional two prizes to take the grand total prize pool to $4000,” Cr Rich said.
“Congratulations to the four winners and thank you for paying your rates.
“This year the Shire has a number of fantastic community and infrastructure projects underway that wouldn’t be possible without our ratepayers.”
