Grants available to make your wish list project a reality

Looking to get your community project or initiative off the ground? You could be eligible for a City of Swan grant valued between $5,000 and $25,000.

A $50,000 grant pool is available under the City's fourth annual Proactive Community Grants round, which funds projects or initiatives that meet the needs of the community from four strategic focus areas.

These key focus areas are community health and wellbeing, social inclusion, community safety and sustainable environment.

City of Swan Mayor said the program has provided almost $150,000 to community groups since it was established four years ago.

"The City’s Proactive Community Grants program is one of the most important ways we work in partnership with our community," he said.

"We're proud to have supported such great work across the City of Swan, and we're continuing to build on that community capacity."

Expressions of Interest (EOI) open on October 7, 2019 and eligible organisations are encouraged to apply.

If you think your project might fit the bill, we encourage you to apply through the City’s online Proactive Grants EOI portal before November 8, 2019.

The Proactive Community Grants program is an extension of the City's Swan Community Funding Scheme (SCFS), which aims to build sustainable local communities, and enhance the social wellbeing and development of our communities.

It’s also more flexible - allowing for submissions that might otherwise fall outside of the standard SCFC requirements.

Swan Valley/Gidgegannup Ward Councillor Charlie Zannino said the SCFS has funded a huge range of projects in its time including multicultural events, art programs, a project to improve youth mental health and wellbeing, a cultural football program for Aboriginal youth and the world championships for radio controlled cars.

"The successful applicants have varied and diverse ideas, and it's amazing that they could all become a reality," he said.
