City of Ballarat CEO Justine Linley will present her August/September CEO’s report at Wednesday’s Ordinary Council meeting.

Key achievements, projects and events delivered by the City of Ballarat in August included:

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Children’s Day – provided a story-time session, playgroup activities and information about kindergarten, Early Start Kindergarten, playgroups, maternal and child health, and other early years services Maternal Child and Family Health Nurse National Conference – City of Ballarat maternal and child health nurse Ellyse Reus presented at the conference in Sydney on her Master’s research and literature review on screen exposure impact and current recommendations for young children Victorian Country Short Course Championships – 602 competitors and more than 2000 spectators across two days at the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre Sonika Records album launch – The album and launch showcased young emerging acts aged between 12 and 25 George Devine Treloar Memorial – installed in the Sturt Street gardens Mindshop Excellence Program – five Year 10 St Patrick’s College students were tasked with increasing engagement with the City of Ballarat’s New Resident Program Building Ballarat Capital Works and Tender opportunities event – targeting those in the building, construction and civil works industry to give an overview of Council’s capital works opportunities and to encourage local business to bid for work.

Ongoing community consultation:

Integrated Transport Plan – Walking and Pedestrian Network, and Bus discussion papers released Dowling Forest Precinct Planning Controls Review – draft report was available for public comment until early August Miners Rest Draft Plan – Council has been meeting with stakeholders to progress unresolved matters Latrobe Street Saleyards Precinct Urban Renewal Plan – a background analysis paper was released for community consultation

Ongoing projects, initiatives and works:

Bakery Hill and Bridge Mall Urban Renewal Project – stage three of community consultation was undertaken Affordable Housing Strategy – background research has begun into affordable housing supply and demand across the City of Ballarat. This will also inform the Compact City Housing Plan
