Recreation Strategy to create a more active and healthy community

Council is calling for residents’ ideas and views to help in the development our new Recreation Strategy.

The strategy will define Council’s role in facilitating recreation activities in our region, ensuring as many people as possible can enjoy the health and well-being benefits they bring.

Topics that could be considered include:

What do you think are the key issues relating to Council-managed recreation facilities in our region that need to be addressed? What would encourage residents to be more physically and socially active? What should Council’s role be in relation to the development of recreation facilities in our region? How can Council support all sports (regardless of size, location and income streams) to develop suitable facilities? How can Council help provide more opportunities for people to participate regardless of gender, identity, ability, cultural background or other factors?

Once Council has collated feedback from residents and groups, a Draft Recreation Strategy will be produced and advertised for public comment.
