Bigge Park’s popular water playground is back in action in time for summer – and it’s better than ever thanks to a stylish new amenities building.

The amenities building features automated accessible toilets, male and female toilets, family change rooms and individual changing stalls.

“The Bigge Park water play area has quickly become a real Liverpool favourite since opening in 2017,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.

“We know the families who go there just love it. This upgrade is about making it even easier for everyone to come and enjoy the water play park.

“Whether it’s parents wrestling to get wet children into dry clothes or wheelchair users looking for an accessible toilet, the new amenities building will help make the water play park an experience open to everyone.”

The water play area reopens to the public on Saturday 5 October, with the amenities building opening the following Saturday 19 October.

Council is also working on tenders for new operators of the café buildings at the north and south ends of Bigge Park.

The building at the northern end previously known as the Shed has been refurbished and will now provide a larger café area after a new Council storage building was constructed nearby.

Tenders will go out later this year for cafes to operate at the Shed building and the Courtside building at the southern end of Bigge Park.
