Council recently appointed specialist heritage consultants Context to undertake a review of the Mildura’s Heritage Assets. Referred to as the Mildura Heritage Study - Part B, this study will cover the northern half of the municipality. Stage 1 of the project involves preparation of a Thematic Environmental History and the identification of all places of potential cultural significance across the study area.
A project Reference Group has been established. Membership of the Reference Group comprises representatives from each of the main and smaller townships around Mildura, including Merbein, Millewa and Red Cliffs historical societies, as well as the Registered Aboriginal Party for the local area, the First People of the Millewa-Mallee Aboriginal Corporation.
To assist Council, a Community Roundtable will be convened Thursday 24 October 2019 at 1-3pm in the Council Room, Deakin Avenue Service Centre, 76 Deakin Avenue Mildura to bring to our attention any suggestions regarding items/places/buildings that members of the community may believe worthy of consideration.
To RSVP your attendance at the Community Roundtable please contact Bernadette George, Strategic Planner, on (03) 5018 8100 or by email: [email protected] and for further information please visit the project page on Council’s website www.mildura.vic.gov.au
