INAS Global Games 2019 - Arts and culture program

Event schedule: 1pm - Hope D 2.30pm - The Outsiders 3.15pm - The Sunshine Troupe 4.15pm - East of West 5.15pm - East of West 2nd set 6.15pm - Singing Social About the performers Hope D - Alternative pop/rock singer Hope D, began writing and playing music at age nine. Since the age of 18, she’s been hitting the stages. Her compelling and free flowing lyrics, layered on looped acoustic guitar riffs, makes for an infectious live show. The Outsiders - The Outsiders were formed through an all-abilities music program. The members had never played in a band or written a song before joining the program which was created to empower people with disabilities through the power of music. Within a couple of months the band performed their first live show that contained a number of original compositions and an amazing version of Michael Jackson's 'Man In The Mirror'. The Outsiders now perform regular gigs and has just released their debut EP 'Inside The Outside'. The Sunshine Troupe - The Sunshine Troupe provide opportunities for participation in the performing arts for people with diverse abilities and organise, encourage, promote and develop the performing arts for people with disabilities. East of West - East of West offers a captivating new take on the fusion between world music and jazz, playing original compositions inspired by the music of the Mediterranean and Balkans. East of West was formed in order to showcase new compositions and improvisations that explore the connections between Eastern and Western music and is proud to announce the release of Little Harbour, their debut album. The trio consists of Bosnian-born Goran Gaji? (double bass), Philip Griffin (oud) and Malindi Morris (hand percussion). Singing Social - Sing, learn, laugh and connect at this fun, casual, social singing session. Enjoy creating beautiful harmonies while also learning simple but powerful ways to improve your voice and get to know the people you're singing with. Yani Choirmistress will bring her Singing Social regulars (approx. 50 singers) to get the session going. Time and activity is a subject to change. More information about the games From 12-19 October, more than 1000 athletes from 50 countries will converge on Brisbane to participate in the world's largest sporting event for elite athletes with an intellectual impairment. Athletes will compete in 10 sports including Table Tennis, Athletics and Swimming which are internationally sanctioned and a pathway to qualifiying for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Held once every four years, this will be the first time that the Games have taken place in the Asia Pacific region.
