Two trees proposed for removal at Caravan Park

Strathbogie Shire Council will be soon applying for a planning permit for the removal of two trees at the Euroa Caravan Park.

The number of trees originally proposed for removal was 14, but this was reassessed and now only one tree is proposed to be removed from the camping area. The other tree proposed for removal is located on one of the internal access roads within the park area.

The removal is required due to the poor health of the trees which pose an unacceptable risk to person and property.

The remaining trees originally planned for removal will be canopy pruned to remove any dead wood and improve the longevity of the trees.

The pruning does not require a planning permit, so is planned to commence on Monday 21st October.

To allow for the reduction in the number of trees to be removed, a new site layout will be required for the Euroa Caravan Park which includes the realignment and replacement of the existing power heads and water supply points.

These works will ensure that 14 mature eucalypts are retained and the amenity of the park is maintained.

Council will continue to work closely with the Caravan Park Manager, arborists and the Euroa Arboretum to undertake a replanting program associated with the proposed tree removals and planned future landscape planting.
