A water-efficient front-loading washing machine will be up for grabs for visitors to this Sunday’s National Water Week Expo in the Armidale Mall.
“Visit the expo, get the products and information you need to save water, and submit a free entry to a competition to win a power and water-efficient Electrolux washing machine,” Armidale Regional Council Mayor Simon Murray said.
The expo, being held as part of Sunday’s Markets in the Mall, will be at the eastern end of Beardy Street Mall from 8am to 1pm. It will offer residents a one-stop shop to save, reuse and generally make best use of water in and around their homes.
Water-efficient front-loading washing machines are among the products targeted by a residential rebate program launched recently by Council. The program also offers financial assistance for households to purchase water tanks, high-efficiency dual-flush toilets and showerheads.
Information on the rebates will be available at Council’s stand at the expo, in addition to water-saving advice and the latest details Council initiatives to supplement the town water supplies and minimise water use for infrastructure and community spaces.
“A wide array of businesses and community groups will also be there to showcase the products that are available and the practical steps to be more water wise,” Councillor Murray said.
“There are many simple options for better water efficiency and the expo makes it easy for people to find the alternatives that best suit them.”
The participating businesses and community organisations include: •Bing Lee •Bushman Tanks - Paul Halloran •Reece Plumbing •Lindsay Snell Plumbing •Department of Primary Industries •Costa Group •Southern New England Landcare •Armidale Tree Group •Armidale Regional Libraries
He said the expo was also a further opportunity for local business operators to learn more about the assistance available to help improve their water efficiency, including workplace audits and water saving action plans.
Visitors can also complete Council’s water saving community survey, which has been extended to this Sunday to enable expo participants to provide their input. The survey can also be completed online on Council’s Your Say Armidale webpage.
Further information about the competition prize and the expo is available on the Water Restrictions page of Council’s website. The competition will be limited to one entry per visitor to the expo.
