Nominations for the 2020 Yass Valley Australia Day Awards are now open, with the community called upon to nominate outstanding individuals or groups who make a significant contribution and difference to our community.
“Yass Valley’s annual Australia Day Awards is a great way for us to come together as a community and publicly thank those individuals and groups who work hard to make Yass Valley such a wonderful place to live,” said Yass Valley Mayor, Rowena Abbey.
Awards categories for the 2020 Australia Day awards are:
Citizen of the Year Young Citizen of the Year Senior Citizen of the Year Community Group of the Year Individual Community ServiceAll award winners will be announced at Yass Valley’s Australia Day Breakfast, held in Coronation Park. The Rotary Club of Yass will once again be providing a free breakfast in the park from 7.30am, with the Citizenship and Awards Ceremony commencing at 8.00am.
Conditions of entry:
1. Individual nominees must be a resident of the Yass Valley at the time of nomination. 2. Previous nominees who have not received an award, are eligible to be nominated again. 3. Community groups or organisations nominated must be located within Yass Valley. 4. Young Citizen of the Year must be aged under 26 Years as at 26 January 2019. 5. Senior Citizen of the Year must be aged over 65 as at 26 January 2019.
Nominations may be submitted by community groups, organisations and individuals using the nomination form that is available here. Hard copies of the nomination form are available from Yass Library and Council’s Administration Office, located at 209 Comur Street, Yass.
Nominations will close Friday, 6 December 2019.
