At the Ordinary Council meeting held on 23 October 2019, Yass Valley Council appointed Chris Berry to the position of General Manager on a 5 year contract.
"Council were very impressed with the number of high quality applications that were received for the role,” Mayor Rowena Abbey said.
“Councillors have made the decision and are extremely happy to announce Chris as the new General Manager. We know that Chris will bring a very high level of professionalism, dedication and stability to Yass Valley Council.”
Chris commenced full-time employment at Yass Valley Council in 2014 as Director of Planning and has undertaken the role of Acting General Manager following the resignation in July of previous General Manager Sharon Hutch.
Chris has worked in local government for 33 years and has performed the roles of General Manager, Director of Planning and Community Services and Director of Corporate and Planning at Goulburn Mulwaree Council. He has also worked in local government in Melbourne and Armidale and holds degrees in Town Planning, Environmental Science and Business Administration.
“I am honoured to be appointed to the position of General Manager and I look forward to working with Councillors, Staff and the Community to ensure Yass Valley Council continues to deliver quality services to our growing community,” Chris Berry said.
Chris will officially commence in his new role from today.
