The Central Highlands Regional Council is pleased to advise that assessment of the urban stormwater pipes in Rubyvale, Capella and Tieri is now finished.
Forming part of an ongoing physical asset condition program, the stormwater project is being conducted by Proterra Group, with works set to continue in Emerald until early 2020.
‘The project will help council check the health of our stormwater network, so we can make informed, proactive decisions about our asset management,’ General Manager Corporate Services Margaret Gatt said.
The Proterra Group crew will run a closed-circuit television camera down each stormwater pit and along the pipeline, capturing video footage.
‘The resulting videos will then be viewed by the team, and any defects identified will be assessed,’ Ms Gatt said.
‘If considered to be in poor condition, that stormwater pipeline will then be placed on a forward program for renewal or replacement.’
Ms Gatt said during the survey residents will see Proterra Group workers and their vans out and about in the community.
‘On occasion the team may need to access properties, but this information will be conveyed to affected residents two weeks prior to entry being necessary and permission to enter will of course be required,’ she said.
‘Some of the pits may also be located within or next to roads and appropriate traffic control will be put in place in these situations.’
Keep an eye on council’s website and Facebook page for more updates on the project.
