The Tourism Strategy 2019-2024, Customer Service Charter, 2019-2020 Community Assistance Grants Round 1 and The Rainbow Beach Stairs Community Survey were all endorsed at today’s open council meeting.
The purpose of the Tourism Strategy is to provide clear direction on what is needed now and into the future to deliver a vibrant, dynamic and compelling visitor destination, and a thriving, buoyant tourism industry generating even greater economic and social prosperity for the Gympie region.
Council has worked with tourism operators, key stakeholders and the general public to develop the strategy.
The Customer Service Charter was also adopted by council at today’s meeting and has been developed to ensure council has a consistent approach to customer service across the organisation.
The charter was created by an internal Customer Service Working Group, who researched local government standards and best practices and undertook an extensive consultation process with multiple business units within council.
Council’s community assistance grants provide funding to not-for-profit community organisations to deliver projects that enhance the social, cultural and community development of the region.
26 grants valued at $88,644 were endorsed today from Round 1 of this year’s grants that support community capacity building, facilities development, community events and equipment purchases.
The results of the Rainbow Beach Stairs Community Survey were presented to and endorsed by council today.
A survey was distributed to approximately 1,200 Rainbow Beach residents in August asking them to vote on one of four design options for the staircase.
The winning option that was endorsed by Council was the Rainbow Staircase with the words “Rainbow Beach Queensland”, which received 35 percent of the total vote.
