Council will host a community meeting on Wednesday, October 30 to discuss the communication, process and decisions relating to proposed works on Myack Street and Memorial Park, Berridale. The meeting will be held at the Snowy Mountain Country Club.
The purpose of this meeting is to: •Acknowledge, accept and apologise to the community for the upset and concern relating to the proposed removal of trees in Memorial Park. •Provide an explanation behind Council’s communication, process and decisions driving these works. •Provide an opportunity for the community to express their concerns. •Determine a way forward that enables works to commence in order to reduce the threat of flooding and damage to property in Berridale.
AGENDA The proposed agenda is as follows:
1. An apology from Snowy Monaro Regional Council to the public - Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer. (5-minute address)
2. Presentation by Mr Mark Davis highlighting the significant levels of community concern over the Council’s participation in the desecration of Berridale’s Memorial to the fallen - Mr Mark Davis Snowy River RSL Sub Branch. (5-minute address)
3. An explanation into the communication, process and decisions behind proposed works to Myack Street and Memorial Park - Q&A Discussion chaired by Mayor Peter Beer.
4. Discussion on how the project might progress enabling flood mitigation measures to be implemented in Berridale between Myack Street, Memorial Park and Park Street - Q&A Discussion chaired by Peter Beer (Mayor)
Council will ensure minutes of the meeting are captured and these will be provided to all stakeholders for comment when ready.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer and Acting Director Operations and Infrastructure Gary Shakespeare will be in attendance.
