Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is inviting artists to lodge exhibition proposals for displays at Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s Cam Robertson Gallery in 2020.
TRC Library and Cultural Services portfolio leader Cr Joe Ramia said the Cam Robertson Gallery offered a dedicated space for exhibiting new works by Toowoomba Region artists as well as curators, arts workers and local arts organisations.
“Displaying exhibitions by emerging local artists is an important part of the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s focus, in addition to showcasing the annual schedule of touring exhibitions, various lectures and tours and organised holiday activities,” Cr Ramia said.
“The Gallery is keen to advance the exposure of talented artists from our region. Eligible artists must live in the Toowoomba Region and have studied at a recognised education provider in the region in the past year.
“Exhibition proposals must cover exhibitions of new works which have not been displayed before.
“I encourage eligible artists and arts sector workers to lodge an application by noon on Monday, November 18.”
Application forms are available at the Gallery at 531 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba or at www.tr.qld.gov.au/trag (Under applying for an exhibition).
Artists and arts organisations across the Toowoomba Region will be assessed according to criteria including artistic content and concepts, quality and presentation of work, originality and relevance to contemporary/historical art practice.
The exhibition space is named in honour of the late Cam Robertson OAM, who was a long-serving Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery trustee.
