Construction has commenced for the new Camberwell Community Centre located at 33-35 Fairholm Grove, Camberwell.
The centre is being redeveloped in response to community need. The new, two-storey building will be bigger and better configured to house the activities and services delivered at the centre, as well as allowing for the co-location of the South Camberwell Maternal and Child Health Centre at the facility.
The design for the new building was developed following community consultation with centre users, staff, local residents and traders. It will bring together the two current sites that make up the Camberwell Community Centre at 33-35 Fairholm Grove (Leighton) and 405 Camberwell Road (Chambly).
Demolition works will be followed by excavation for the basement and construction of the building structure over the coming weeks, with the new centre expected to open in late-2020.
