Next month sees flexible meeting and activity workspaces at the Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre open for community hire.
The two workshop rooms – a ‘wet space’ for activities requiring sinks and water, and a meeting room with large screen and internet – will be available from 4 November. Eurobodalla Council’s manager of community development Kim Bush said the new rooms provided the individuals and groups with many options.
“The wet room has capacity for 20 and is a great place for art workshops and the like, while the meeting room holds 14 and is set up for presentations, meeting and video conferencing,” Ms Bush said.
“Or, hire both rooms together. The wall between is retractable, making a single large space which accommodates 40 people.”
Ms Bush said the workrooms were supported by the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Community Funding and built to meet community needs; increasing available meeting spaces in Moruya and enabling the library and arts services access to purpose-built areas for different activities.
“It’s a great area for arts and crafts, literacy and education,” Ms Bush said.
“Community groups can book it not just for meetings but for gatherings of all sorts – even birthday parties!
“There’s access to the back deck of the Bas, there’s a break-out space for tea and coffee making and accessible, modern toilet facilities. Of course, there’s access to the Bas and library, and the vistas over the golf course are beautiful.”
The workrooms can be booked through Council’s booking office on 4472 3153 or our venue hire page, from 4 November.
