Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is encouraging the community to join the conversation about walking, cycling and public transport at the 2019 Transport and Active Living Forum.
The free event, to be held at the Armitage Centre on Saturday 16 November, will bring together local and international speakers to discuss opportunities to improve transport options and maintain the liveability of the Toowoomba Region.
TRC Chair of Infrastructure Committee, Cr Carol Taylor said that with our Region constantly changing the forum provides a great opportunity for the community to talk about transport options and active urban outcomes.
“Council is looking to the future and this includes encouraging positive action on urban and regional cycling, walking and public transport issues,” Cr Taylor said.
“The forum enables the community to collaborate with government and industry about the challenges and opportunities associated with improving transport and liveability for our Region.
"The population is growing and new technology is changing how we live, work and connect. As a Region, we need to balance this change without losing the lifestyle that makes our Region great.
“The forum has an incredibly engaging agenda and attracted some exceptional speakers who will discuss active transport, urban form and healthy active living topics.
“Registrations are essential and we encourage participants to put their name down well before the closing date of Monday 11 November 2019.
“Our Toowoomba Region is a great place to live, work and to raise a family and, as a Council, we want to keep it that way. The Transport and Active Living forum is a chance to be part of the conversation about striking the right balance between growth and liveability.”
