Carnarvon Creates – An exclusive Central Highlands artist retreat

Claim one of 40 spots for the exclusive Carnarvon Creates 2020 artist retreat and take your art to the next level in the serene environment of one of Queensland’s most iconic national parks.

Held at the Takarakka Bush Resort in Carnarvon National Park from 26 March 2020, the retreat offers an all-immersive experience for artists of all mediums and levels.

Sharon Gimbert from the Emerald Art Group Incorporation said the time to book your spot was now.

‘Join our brilliant tutors for three days of workshops followed by three days of artistic immersion in the peacefully grandiose surrounds of nature,’ Mrs Gimbert said.

‘Take this opportunity to develop your personal art portfolio with support from the tutors, who will also be growing their own portfolios.

‘Bookings are open until 15 January 2020, but with only 40 places I encourage anyone interested to claim their spot now.’

The multi award-winning tutors bring a wealth of knowledge and skills in a diverse variety of art practices and cater for all levels of artistic skill, including:

Participants will have the opportunity to exhibit work created at the retreat at two exhibitions. The first will be at the Emerald Art Gallery in April 2020 with another at the Bauhinia Bicentennial Art Gallery at Springsure in May 2020.

Carnarvon Creates 2020 is facilitated by the Emerald Art Group Inc. and has been developed in partnership with council and the Central Queensland Regional Arts Services Network (CQ RASN). It is proudly supported by Central Highlands Regional Council, CQ RASN, CQUniversity, the Queensland Government and the Rolleston Painting Group.

Central Highlands Regional Council Manager Connected Communities Suzanne Poulter said the event shows the vibrance and innovation in the arts and culture space in the Central Highlands.

‘Initiatives like Carnarvon Creates connect communities across the region, drive regional and economic development, promote health and wellbeing and deliver unique experiences for people,’ she said.

‘The retreat is open to anyone and provides a fantastic opportunity for rural and regional artists to advance and develop their skills and network.’
