Funding push for road repairs

Published: 23 Oct 2019

Council will apply for State Government funding for repairs to Goldsborough Road, which sustained significant damage late last year.

The road has been shortlisted for funding through the Queensland Reconstruction Authority Built/Infrastructure (Betterment) Fund following an initial application in June 2019.

Located about 3.1 kilometres from the Gillies Highway, the embankment of Goldsborough Road suffered localised landslips during heavy rainfall in December 2018.

This resulted in the road being closed for about four months over the wet season with a temporary detour established via Goldrush Close.

The road was reopened in April 2019 following temporary repairs.

The proposed works will include the replacement and extension of the damaged pipe culverts and widening of the fill embankment in order to provide long-term stability and allow for cycle lane and guardrails.
