Cairns Regional Council finished the 2018-19 financial year with an operating surplus of $236,000 for normal operations, while delivering a capital works program in excess of $150 million.
The 2018-19 Annual Report and Financial Statements were tabled at today’s Ordinary Meeting.
The documents highlight a successful year both financially and in projects and programs delivered.
More than $152.5 million in capital works was delivered in the 12-month period, including the completion of the Cairns Performing Arts Centre and a new state-of-the-art water testing laboratory in Macnamara Street.
Council also spent $322 million locally through resources, materials and services.
Council maintains about $4 billion worth of assets and infrastructure.
