The highly anticipated City of Busselton Art Award is on again!
Judges Joanne Baitz from Bunbury Regional Galleries and Lee Kinsella from Lawrence Wilson Gallery, UWA have a difficult job ahead of them choosing from 132 entries to present some of the best contemporary artwork from throughout Western Australia.
First prize is $10,000 and a solo exhibition in the ArtGeo Gallery next year, past winners include Kay Gibson, Lee Harrop and Marina Troitsky to name a few.
Prizes are also awarded for Emerging Artist, Highly Commended and People’s Choice which is chosen by visitors to the gallery voting for their favourite piece.
Everyone is invited to join the artists at the free opening event on Friday 25 October from 6pm at the ArtGeo Gallery to hear the exciting award announcements.
Now in its twelfth year, the art award was established in 2008 when the ArtGeo Gallery opened in the former Agricultural building which is heritage listed.
Through this annual acquisitive award, the City of Busselton aims to build a collection of contemporary Western Australian art and to promote ArtGeo Gallery as an exhibition venue in the region.
The City of Busselton Art Award exhibition is showing from 25 October to 8 December at the ArtGeo Gallery, open daily 10am to 4pm.
The Objectives out lined in this media release are aligned to Key Goal Area 2 in the City of Busselton’s Strategic Community Plan (Review 2019): Places that are Vibrant, Attractive and Affordable.
