Official Media Release from the Office of Wendy Tuckerman Thursday, 31 October 2019
The NSW Government is calling for tenders for a new $6.2 million Alcohol and Other Drugs Residential Rehabilitation and Day Program in Goulburn.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman MP said the program would provide alcohol and drug rehabilitation services and day programs for both men and women.
“This important alcohol and drug service for Goulburn residents seeking support is now one step closer, with this call for tenders,” Ms Tuckerman said.
“Goulburn has been a great beneficiary of the NSW Government’s commitment to the regions, including $150 million for our Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment. Now the community will benefit from this welcome boost to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.”
Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Director, Southern NSW Local Health District, Cherie Puckett said the program provides a minimum ten bed residential service and a ‘step-up’ and ‘step-down’ day support initiative.
“We’ve received positive comments and significant interest from the initial information sessions and look forward to working with the successful NGO,” Ms Puckett said.
“The District will support the successful provider with options for accommodation to successfully run the program.”
The 2019-20 budget for Southern New South Wales Local Health District is $434 million, this is an increase of $13 million on the previous financial year’s annualised budget.
Between mid-2012 and mid 2019 the Southern New South Wales Local Health District increased its workforce by an additional 467 full time equivalent staff – an increase of 26.4% including 49 more doctors, 158 more nurses and midwives, and 68 more allied health staff.
