Residents in and around Bossley Park can now get fit and active close to home using upgraded fitness equipment at Terone Park.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Council invested $115,000 to give residents an opportunity to use contemporary outdoor fitness equipment for free.
“Council is progressively rolling out new and upgraded outdoor fitness equipment across the City so every resident has the opportunity to be fit and healthy,” Mayor Carbone said.
Terone Park will have ‘dynamic’ outdoor fitness equipment giving residents more options to tone up and strengthen body, heart and lungs through working out, cycling, climbing and cross training.
A recently installed water station is also available to keep users hydrated.
“Residents of all ages can use the equipment as individuals or with family and friends,” Mayor Carbone said.
“The health and wellbeing of our residents is one of the most important challenges we face with high obesity levels within our community.
“I encourage Bossley Park families to come and use the fitness equipment and get active and healthy together.”
Council is committed to ensuring that Fairfield City residents have access to quality public spaces and leisure and recreation opportunities that meet the growing and changing needs of our community.
Outdoor fitness equipment is free to use at any time. Council also hosts Gyms in Parks throughout the year, which provides free six-week exercise programs through qualified instructors. For more information, call 9725 0222.
