Monday 11 September, 2019 The Tamworth Regional Council is developing a plan to ensure the community’s future sport and recreational needs are met and it wants to hear ideas from its residents.

Tamworth Regional Council Sport and Recreation Development Officer, Sam Eriksson, said the Council is today launching an online survey and will be hosting workshops across the region in an effort to gain input from a wide section of the community.

“The Tamworth Regional Council Sport and Recreation Strategic Plan will provide a road map for planning and development of all Council sport, recreation and open space facilities,” he said.

“The information we receive through the survey and workshops will be used to form a prioritised action plan to guide the provision of new facilities and enhancement of existing ones to meet the needs of the growing community.”

Today’s survey launch marks the start of the community consultation phase of the project which runs until Monday 16 December, 2019.

The following workshops will also be held during the consultation period;

Kootingal - Monday 25 November 6pm-7.30pm at the Kootingal Bowling Club; Nundle - Tuesday 26 November 6pm-7.30pm at the Nundle Library; Tamworth - Wednesday 27 November 6-7.30pm at the Tamworth Community Centre; Barraba - Thursday 28 November 4pm-5.30pm at the Alice Street Council Building; Manilla - Thursday 28 November 6.30pm-8pm at the Manilla Small Town Hall; Tamworth - Friday 29 November 9.30am-11am at the Tamworth Community Centre.

The results from the consultation will be published to the community when the plan goes on public exhibition in mid-2020.
