Information sessions on construction of roundabout at Suttor, Lambert and Mitre Streets

MEDIA RELEASE 7 November 2019

Council will hold two drop-in information sessions on the construction of the roundabout at Suttor, Mitre and Lambert Streets on Thursday, 14 November.

The first drop-in session will be at the Upstairs Startup Hub from 12.00pm to 2.00pm and the second session will be at the Scout Hall in West Bathurst from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Mayor Bobby Bourke said Council staff will be available at the each of the sessions to answer any questions, queries or concerns that residents may have.

“I encourage people to pop by anytime during one of the sessions to learn how the construction of the roundabout may impact them,” he said.

The roundabout is being built in response to community concerns and feedback about safety issues at the intersection. The construction of the roundabout is a complex and lengthy project due to the design of the intersection and the number of underground services in the area. It is envisaged the project will take approximately nine months to complete.

The project will be conducted in stages. The first of which are outlined below:

Stage one

Carpark construction adjacent to the shops and water main works at the rear of the shops. The intersection will remain open under traffic control. Access between Coral Way and Suttor Street will be closed for the duration of the project.

Stage two

Water main works at the intersection. The intersection will remain open under traffic control. Stages one and two are expected to take approximately eight weeks.

Stage three

Road realignment and service relocation. Suttor and Mitre Streets will remain open under traffic control. Lambert Street will be fully closed to traffic. This is scheduled to occur during school holidays to minimise impact to traffic. This stage is expected to take approximately four weeks.

As the project progresses, the subsequent stages will be detailed on the Bathurst YourSay website. Regular project updates will be published on the YourSay Bathurst website where you can also subscribe to receive a newsletter with the latest information.
