The City of Ballarat’s Creative City Strategy and Creative Precinct Master Plan has received yet another accolade.
The project was named winner of the Great Planning Ideas – Large Project Category at the 2019 Victorian Awards for Planning Excellence, conducted by the Planning Institute of Australia.
The City of Greater Geelong also received a commendation in this category for its Northern and Western Geelong Growth Areas Framework Plan.
Ballarat’s Creative City Strategy, adopted in May 2019, offers a long-term vision for Ballarat as an iconic city which inspires creativity, demands discovery and rewards the inquisitive.
To support the strategy’s objectives, Ballarat’s Creative Precinct Master Plan was also adopted. Collectively, and with community support, the strategy and master plan aim to position Ballarat as one of Australia’s leading creative cities.
The Creative City project was recognised with a national economic development award last month for strategic thinking and is now in the running for the Planning Institute of Australia National awards which will be announced in May 2020.
