With summer just around the corner, residents can prepare to splash and dive into Baw Baw Shire Council’s seasonal outdoor swimming pools.
Seasonal pools in Drouin, Neerim South, Rawson, Thorpdale and Trafalgar will be open to the community from 1 December 2019 to 31 March 2020.
The outdoor pool at the Warragul Leisure Centre features an extended open season from 1 November 2019 to 30 April 2020 due to its temperature control functionality.
Seasonal pools will open when the temperature is forecast to reach or exceed 25 degrees Celsius (except Rawson and Warragul which are not weather dependent). Open days will be determined at 5.00pm for the following day using the Warragul forecast data provided by the Bureau of Meteorology. This format allows pool-goers more time to plan their summer fun earlier than ever before.
All seasonal pools are managed by the YMCA on behalf of Council and will feature summer events such as Family fun day, Santa’s pool party, inflatable sessions and an Australia Day party.
Pools may close prior to or during thunderstorm activity or in extreme weather conditions. All pools will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Quotes attributable to YMCA Centre Manager Sarah Hadjialexiou“We encourage locals to make the most of the pool and community space. The pools are great places to spend warm days relaxing and cooling off. There’s something special about outdoor pools. It’s about having fun in the sun, time with your kids, or just a nice quiet dip in the lanes after work.”
