The Victorian Government’s e-waste to landfill ban now applies across Victoria, so to make it easier and safer to dispose of e-waste Council is hosting a free drop off day in Warragul.
The e-waste (or electronic waste) to landfill ban came into effect on 1 July 2019. Any e-waste can no longer be placed in kerbside bins.
E-waste is any item with a plug, battery or power cord that is no longer working or wanted. It covers a whole range of items from phones and refrigerators to fluorescent light tubes.
According to Sustainability Victoria, e-waste is growing three times faster than the rate of standard municipal waste. It contains many potentially hazardous and valuable materials, which don‘t belong in landfill and can be reused.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Cr Mikaela Power“If you have any old and unwanted electronics, this free drop-off day is the perfect way to dispose of them. By keeping e-waste out of landfill, we’ll better protect our environment and recover more precious resources like copper, silver and gold that can be recycled and reused.”
“If you can’t make it to Warragul on the day, you can still dispose of e-waste for free at all Council operated transfer stations at Lardner, Trafalgar, Neerim South and Erica, or our customer service centres in Drouin and Warragul for smaller items.”
