Total Fire Ban  

A statewide total fire ban has been extended until midnight Wednesday 12 November 2019. That means you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire.

General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity that produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open.

Safe places for the community

Council has extended operating hours until 8pm this evening at a number of our libraries, providing a safe comfortable place for the community.

Due to potential bushfire danger, the section of McCarrs Creek Road that runs through the National Park - McCarrs Creek Reserve to General San Martin Drive - has been closed at the request of the Police.

Residential access from Church Point to McCarrs Creek Road currently remains open.

VMS signage will be in place.

Further to the Catastrophic fire danger forecast for tomorrow by the Rural Fire Service, Council is working closely with emergency services to plan and prepare for the worsening conditions.

Closures

As a precaution, Council is closing all bushland tracks and trails, including Manly Dam, Manly to North Harbour walk and Stony Range Regional Botanic Gardens from tomorrow (Tuesday). From 9.30am Tuesday McCarrs Creek Rd will also be closed.

Large animal relocation

We have opened Frenchs Forest Showground and North Narrabeen reserve for local residents to temporarily relocate large animals such as horses. Staff will be in attendance at these sites however residents will need to provide their own equipment and services at this stage.
