In exciting news, it was announced last week that the 2020 Local Government NSW (LGNSW) Conference will be held in the Cessnock Local Government Area from Sunday 11 to Tuesday 13 October 2020.
The LGNSW Conference is the policy-making event of the year for NSW Councils, providing an opportunity for Councillors to come together to share ideas and debate issues that shape the way we are governed.
The host venue for the 2020 Conference will be the Crowne Plaza in Lovedale and a dinner event will be held at Hope Estate in Pokolbin.
LGNSW President, Linda Scott said Lovedale’s Crown Plaza provided a world-class venue to host next year’s event.
“These conferences are a highlight of the local government calendar because they provide a unique opportunity for councillors and leaders from across the state to come together to debate critical issues their communities are facing and come up with effective, locally driven solutions.”
“For the hosting region it’s a great opportunity to highlight everything the area has to offer, and a conference in the Hunter Valley, led by Mayor Bob Pynsent and Cessnock City Council, will be no exception,” added Linda.
Cessnock City Council will work closely with the LGNSW events team to ensure the event is a success. This will include providing support and advice in planning and arranging the social program, as well as providing accommodation and transport options for delegates.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent was excited by the news and said this will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase our region to delegates from across NSW.
“We are very much looking forward to hosting the 2020 Conference and with up to 900 people expected to attend the event, it will be a huge boost to our local economy.”
“I have always been proud of what our region has to offer and having the opportunity to share this with fellow Councillors from all corners of NSW is just incredible,” added Cr Pynsent.
