Campaspe Shire Council will continue to offer immunisation sessions in multiple locations throughout the region in 2020.
Acting Public Environments Manager, Alissa Herd said the program is a valuable and convenient service that enables our community to remain up to date with their immunisations without needing to book in with their GP.
“The sessions are held in Echuca, Kyabram, Lockington, Rochester, Rushworth, Stanhope and Tongala and range from 30 minutes to one hour,” Ms Herd said.
“Due to no bookings in Girgarre and very low numbers in Gunbower throughout 2018/19, council has decided stop the service in these locations.”
“Council is encouraging people to ensure they are protected against Measles with an increased number of confirmed cases in Victoria. The Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine is free for anyone that was born during or after 1966 that does not have evidence of two doses of the vaccine.”
In 2018/19, 97 per cent of children aged five living in Campaspe were fully vaccinated.
‘No Jab, No Play’ is state legislation that requires all children to be fully vaccinated, unless they have a medical exemption, to be enrolled in child care or kindergarten in Victoria.
The 2020 immunisation schedule is available on council’s website, customer service centres, immunisation sessions, or from the maternal and child health service.
