Residents are encouraged to have their say on a name for the Shire’s new dog park currently being built at the corner of Larsen Road and Sansimeon Boulevard, Byford.
Earlier this year the Shire asked residents to submit their suggestions to name the new park, with more than 140 ideas put forward.
Four names have now been shortlisted for the community to vote on - Byford Bark Park, Byford Dog Park, Dwert Park (Dwert is the Noongar word for dog) and Larsen Dog Park.
The outcome of the community vote will be submitted to Council to formally approve the name for the new park.
Shire President Michelle Rich thanked everyone who submitted name suggestions and urged people to have their say and vote.
“The community has been heavily involved with this project from the start, including the prioritisation for the delivery of the park, as well as the design for what elements they would like included,” Cr Rich said.
“I look forward to seeing what name is the community’s preferred option.”
Residents can vote on their preferred name online here or by completing a hard copy form at the Shire’s administration building, 6 Paterson Street, Mundijong.
Voting opens Thursday, 7 November and closes 5pm Monday, 18 November 2019.
The $468,000 Park, funded entirely by developer contributions, is nearing completion, with shade, seating and agility equipment installed last week.
The park will include two fenced off sections, one for small dogs and one for large dogs.
An opening date for the park will be confirmed by the end of November.
