A new sculpture has been installed in St Peters Park as part of the North Sydney Public Art Trail.
The dramatic stainless steel and glass sculpture called A Rotunda for ‘Reflective Encounters’ has been created by contemporary Australian artist Damien Butler.
The artwork is formed of 80 Dichroic semi-mirrored angular glass panels which sit atop a polished stainless frame to create an immersive circular dome.
The site-specific work responds to its location, opposite St Peter’s Presbyterian Church and looking outwards to the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, providing a place of both respite and reflection.
The Art Trail includes 18 sites of cultural significance, historical landmarks and public artworks located in Kirribilli, Milsons Point, Lavender Bay and North Sydney.
To accompany the Trail, Council created a self-guided digital walking tour which is available as a free App. The NORTHARTS App can be downloaded on all digital devices.
